Is the Paula Method an Exercise Method?

Is the Paula Method an exercise method? I don’t believe so.

Although the method has many different exercises, and the exercises are powerful and effective (and can even feel magical), they are only the portal to more meaningful work.

What is the Paula Method? I think it is connecting with your body in the most direct way.

I think the real magic is in understanding what the body wants and being able to provide just that.

Out of all the exercises, which is the right one to get us there? All of them and none of them. As I said, it’s not an exercise method. The exercises will help you; but what will bring you to the next level is understanding your body’s cues. This process doesn’t happen simply by doing the exercises. It happens when you understand the chain reactions that begin as a result of the exercises.

The quickest way to unlock this information is to have a trained teacher go through this process with you. A Paula Method practitioner is trained to observe all kinds of reactions that you may not be aware of yet. Your teacher will help you notice these reactions and will support you as you form a new connection with your body. Once this connection is established, you won’t need the help of a teacher anymore to continue this self-exploration. Mostly you’ll continue living your life feeling much more connected to your body and more attentive to its needs. You won’t just feel something; you’ll do something about it.

Why do I think some people call it magic? I believe it’s because we are trained to think that great results come from great effort. The realization that great results can come without any effort is so shocking for some people that they call it magic. I call it the simplicity of trust.
